This is our land | SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVE
The "This is Our Land" social impact initiative, developed to complement the release of Amazon MGM Studios’ documentary "Silver Dollar Road," represents a transformative effort to address Black land dispossession in the U.S.
This groundbreaking initiative provided a digital resource hub for at-risk landowners, a course designed to educate about our country’s history of land dispossession and to provide solutions to help curb its prevalence in marginalized communities, and a safe space to share stories of families in need of community support and awareness.
The documentary's powerful message was brought to life through a nationwide screening tour at key cultural and educational hubs including the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, North Carolina A&T University and Howard School of Law. This initiative is a dedicated effort to enlighten, empower, and unite communities in safeguarding Black land heritage and ownership rights, fostering a future where land loss and theft are relics of the past.
